CONTRA COSTA SUMMER UMPIRE ASSOCIATION

CCSUA serves the non-interscholastic on-field umpiring and umpire training needs of the EastBay, Contra Costa and Alameda counties during the entire calendar year. Veteran high school umpire Jack Townsend founded CCSUA in 2000 as a division of CCUA, the high school umpiring association. As the primary assigner of CCSUA he also devotes his full-time efforts toward the securing of contractual umpire service agreements with many youth, Babe Ruth, Connie Mack, Summer high school aged programs as well as Summer college competition and men's senior [MSBL] & adult [MABL] baseball leagues. CCSUA provides game assignments for over 250 umpire members that have high school, college and professional umpiring backgrounds. Umpire assignments annually number in excess of 8000.

Townsend is assisted in the assigning by veteran umpires Carlos Camacho, Terry Gosser & Pat Katovich. In addition there are three additional members of the CCSUA staff that observe and evaluate CCSUA members: Russ Ruslender, Matt Reeder & Curtis Glace. Carlos and Jack developed the CCSUA OutReach training clinics that provides umpire training for youth and volunteer adult umpire programs in the EastBay. CCSUA OutReach utilizes most of the same certified high school umpire training staff that trains the CCUA high school umpires. That training staff is made up of HS Varsity, College, and current or past Professional umpires that specialize in the education and training of youth and above baseball umpires.

CCSUA counts among it's Summer service customers the Tri-Valley Mens Senior Baseball League [TVMSBL], various Summer wood-bat College & Summer high school programs, American Legion, Connie Mack, the Tri-Valley Babe Ruth League, the very large Diablo 680 Pony Baseball League, Castro Valley Independent Baseball League, and various baseball academies such as EJ Sports and the Danville Baseball Academy. CCSUA also provides umpires for travel-ball tournaments such as Triple Crown Sports in Northern California and Northern Nevada.
